Made by JMW

The pieces you’ll find on my website are all original, made without blueprints or measuring gauges. As I work, I let my imagination guide the direction of the piece.

Most of what fills our homes is made to be replaced. These pieces are made to be kept. Each one begins as a block of wood from a locally sourced tree and is turned on my lathe until the grain, not a factory blueprint, decides how it looks.

  • Made to last

Turned from solid wood, not pressed from scraps or stamped from a mold. Unlike plastic, wood gets better with use, picking up a soft glow and the marks of daily life. Made to be kept, not replaced.

  • One of a kind

Every piece starts as a block of wood and ends up shaped by its own grain. No two have the same pattern or color, so the one you bring home is yours alone.

  • Natural, not artificial

Wood is a renewable material, and I source mine close to home in Minnesota. Each piece gets a simple, hand-rubbed oil finish that lets the wood show through.
